1. Professionalism.
Academy of Cinema is a professional training academy, rather than an academic institution. You will be learning from successful film professionals, who have been in the business for many years, thus offering their rich experience in an intimate setting.
2. Flexibility.
AOC’s modular program allows you to design your own course of study, instead of requiring you to take all the courses offered within the 85 day period. It is up to you to choose your areas of concentration, depending on your needs.
3. Real life setting.
While following AOC’s courses, you will be in one of the largest working studios in the Balkans. You will observe and in some cases, partake in working productions. This gives you the opportunity to meet and socialize other international professionals in the field.
4. Value for Money.
Compared to other film programs, AOC’s tuition is very competitive. The cost for a full college semester is $12,400.
5. Athens.
Athens is a very exciting place to be at the moment, after the many changes that came about for the Olympic Games in 2004. The school is located just 4 kilometers from the city center, where you can find anything you would find in any European capital city.
6. The student body.
AOC offer positions to students, after a thorough professional and personal review. It is our policy that responsible individuals are accepted to AOC, as it is important that a certain decorum is maintained in the studio.

The tuition for the 2006 fall semester American college credit program is $12,400. This includes tuition and lodging. Please note that this does not include air transport to and from Greece or any meals. Participants should budget at least $3,000 for personal expenses (including meals) plus approximately $1,000 (depending on point of origin) for airfare to / from Greece. Participants also need to have international health insurance that will cover them during their stay in Greece.
The Academy of Cinema’s program is located at the Karamanos Studio, in Ano Liossia, just 4 kilometers from the center of Athens.
Extremely. All classes are designed to be of immediate professional use. Students are taught in a working studio.
Short stays can be arranged at a first class hotel, just ten minutes from the studio. For anyone taking the full program, apartments or homestays can be arranged by AOC administration.
If you are staying at the hotel recommended by AOC, there will be free bus transportation every morning and evening, to and from the studio. If you make your own arrangements, or are staying for the whole semester, you must use public transportation to get to a central metro station, where a bus will transport you to and from the studio.
Participants are the sole owners of all the films they make during the program. (However, AOC reserves the right to make copies of student work for promotional purposes.)
For a program of study less than 3 months, like Academy of Cinema, students from the United States are not required to secure any special visa prior to entry. If you intend on staying longer than 90 days in Greece, you are required to get the proper visa before travel. AOC does not provide special visas for students interested in staying over 90 days. Students from outside the United States, should check with the Greek consulate in their country for the necessary documentation, needed for entry to Greece.
AOC’s modular program offers optimum flexibility, in that each participant chooses the number and type of courses they wish to take. The minimum number of courses is one and the maximum is 12 per semester.
AOC’s courses are extremely intensive and demand maturity, commitment and dedication. Participants need to be able to work with others and be responsible to them. Therefore, each candidate, regardless of age, will undergo a thorough interview and application process. AOC’s focus is on mature students.
AOC grants a diploma upon successful completion of each course.
